Founder of My Basic Needs Charity Foundation

The founder's story

The journey of this organisation began with one woman’s determination to act when she saw people facing poverty, homelessness and social exclusion.

Compassion put into practice

In 2010, the founder began helping vulnerable people in her community in the United Kingdom using her own resources. Witnessing poverty, homelessness and social exclusion, she felt compelled to act rather than look away.

She started by providing food to homeless individuals and supporting people who were struggling to survive, including undocumented migrants and others facing difficult living conditions.

As a salon owner, she also used her business as a place of opportunity. Young people who were at risk of being drawn into street life were welcomed into the salon, where they could learn practical skills, gain mentorship and develop confidence that could help them build a better future.

Her compassion did not stop within the UK. She organised shipments of food, clothing and essential supplies to support families and vulnerable communities in Africa.

What began as a personal mission quickly grew as more people sought help. The needs became greater than what one person could meet alone.

Recognising this, the founder formally established and registered the organisation so supporters, volunteers and the wider public could join the mission.

Today, the Foundation continues to grow from that same foundation of compassion, service and the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity and hope.
